Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about therapy and our approaches.
What is the difference between counseling and psychotherapy?
While there's overlap, counseling typically focuses on specific issues and developing coping strategies, often being more short-term. Psychotherapy tends to explore deeper patterns, past experiences, and may be longer-term. We offer both approaches and can recommend what might work best for your needs.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is very safe when conducted by a trained professional. You remain in control during the session and cannot be made to do anything against your will. It's simply a state of focused relaxation where you're more open to positive suggestion
What happens in an IEMT session?
During an IEMT session, you'll be guided to recall certain memories or feelings while following specific eye movement patterns. This helps the brain process emotional responses differently. Unlike some trauma therapies, IEMT doesn't require extensive discussion of difficult experiences.
How many sessions will I need
The number of sessions varies depending on your unique situation and goals. Some clients experience significant improvement in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly review progress together and adjust as needed.
Do I need artistic skills for creative therapy?
No artistic skills are required! Creative therapy is about expression, not artistic ability. The process, not the final product, is what matters. Many clients find they enjoy creative expression once the pressure of 'making art' is removed.
Are the sessions confidential?
Absolutely. Confidentiality is fundamental to our practice. The only exceptions are legal requirements to report risk of harm to yourself or others, or court orders, which we would discuss with you.
